Review

I read Divergent a while back and absolutely loved it, which is why I found it strange that I'd had Insurgent sitting on my kindle for months, without reading it. I started it a while back, got about a chapter in and then stopped, for no other reason than I bought new books. This month though, I decided to pick it up again for the bout of books read-a-thon, and I am so glad that I did.
While for me this book doesn't surpass Divergent, it's definitely on a level playing field with it. Just as I loved the first book in the series, I loved this one as well.
It was fast paced, full of action and character development, and the storyline was fantastic. It was the kind of book that grabs a hold of you and doesn't let go. I didn't want to put it down because there was always something interesting happening.
There were some surprises in this book as well, which I loved because I hate predictability in books like this, so I was happy that this book wasn't predictable.
I really liked the progression of not just the story, but the characters from the first book to this one, and it's made me really eager to see how the trilogy ends. So eager that I started reading Allegiant right away.
This is the kind of book which ends and really makes you need to read the next one right away, and perhaps that's why I didn't read it as soon as I bought it, because then I knew I'd have to wait for the last book to be released. Whatever the reason, I'm really pleased that I've read it now, because it was a brilliant addition to a great book series.

  1. Glad you liked Insurgent! You're right about the ending, and I read it when it first came out, so I had to wait a year and a half before I was able to read Allegiant!! I hope you are liking Allegiant; I was pretty disappointed with it actually.

    1. Allegiant is ok so far, not as good as I was expecting. I'm almost halfway through it, so hopefully I'll have it done by the end of the month. I'm just having trouble getting into it.
