Title: Partials (Partials #1)
Author: Dan Wells
Pages: 468
Format: Kindle ebook
Goodreads Average Rating: 3.97/5
My Rating: 9.5/10

Synopsis from Goodreads

The human race is all but extinct after a war with Partials—engineered organic beings identical to humans—has decimated the population. Reduced to only tens of thousands by RM, a weaponized virus to which only a fraction of humanity is immune, the survivors in North America have huddled together on Long Island while the Partials have mysteriously retreated. The threat of the Partials is still imminent, but, worse, no baby has been born immune to RM in more than a decade. Our time is running out.

Kira, a sixteen-year-old medic-in-training, is on the front lines of this battle, seeing RM ravage the community while mandatory pregnancy laws have pushed what's left of humanity to the brink of civil war, and she's not content to stand by and watch. But as she makes a desperate decision to save the last of her race, she will find that the survival of humans and Partials alike rests in her attempts to uncover the connections between them—connections that humanity has forgotten, or perhaps never even knew were there.

Review

Wow. I think the best word to describe this book is wow. I was so impressed by pretty much every aspect. I thought the world building was fantastic. The characters were interesting and written well. The plot was intricate and kept me on the edge of my seat. The pacing was perfect.
The best thing I could say about it though it that it shocked me. I didn't find it hugely predictable, which helped me to eagerly want to read more of the book.

I really liked that the main character was such a strong character, and then there was a good bunch of supporting characters around her. I enjoyed it so much.

The ending as well, has to be one of my favorite endings ever. Simply because it made me want to read the next one so much.

Overall, I'd say this book was pretty close to perfect for me.
