Camp NaNoWriMo | April 2017 Session

Hi all,
I'm so excited that Camp NaNoWrimo has rolled around again. I'm signing up and I'm raring to go. I've already got my projects outlined, a cover made and a playlist of music in the making. Now there's just the waiting for April to actually begin.
This April, I'll be working on a YA Contemporary. Here's a little about it.

Scintilla 

- A tiny, brilliant flash or spark; a small thing; a barely visible trace.

Word Count Goal: 60,000

It's been a rough year for Allie. Starting with the accident that ended her gymnastics career in May and ending with her flunking out of high school almost exactly a year later. Everything seems to be going from bad to worse and she's given up. Her bedroom seems as good a place as any to spend her summer.

Her parents have other ideas. Not willing to let her sink into her self-pitying darkness, they insist upon her spending the summer at their old vacation spot. Lake Wilson. It's just what they think she needs and the last thing she wants.

There might just be one bright spot in her summer. The boy across the lake, Fletcher.

On break from college for the summer, Fletcher's parents convince him to join them at the lake where his mom spent her summer's when she was growing up. Giving up a job at a publishing house, he tries to make the most of his summer.

The last thing either of them expected was to fall for someone this summer, but that's exactly what starts happening.

As the summer unfolds, though, Allie starts to wonder if Fletcher's telling her everything. Most of the time he's the perfect guy, until he starts disappearing for days at a time with no explanation, then continues to become more and more withdrawn whenever he is around.

Could Allie's one bright spark be fading out before it can take light? And what is causing Fletcher to so suddenly withdraw from her?

NaNoWriMo 2013: I Won!!

Hi guys,

I think the last time I updated you all on my NaNo progress, it wasn't going well. I was behind with the plan to catch up that day or the day after. I didn't. I fell further behind but then in the final week of the month I had a few good days, and managed to complete the 50k on time.

My end total is 52,628, so I didn't get a huge amount over the 50k and I'm nowhere close to actually having a finished first draft, but I'm just so happy that I actually managed to get it done.

I'll admit, for some reason and I still don't quite know what it is, I found this past month really hard. In the past I've been able to complete the 50k really quickly, and I usually end up finishing the novel as well. I think the best I've ever done is getting to around 80k in the month, so I'll admit I was disappointed that I kept falling behind.

The only excuse I have is that I've had a pretty bad month with my health, and so I spent a lot of time feeling like I didn't have the energy to sit down and write.

My plans going forward are to finish the still to be titled NaNo 2013 project, and also get back to editing what will be my next released book, which I hope to have out by spring time next year.

How did NaNo go for you? Did you manage to get your word count on time? Did you finish your novel? And what do you plan to do now that you have your first draft?

NaNoWriMo: A Long Overdue Update

Hi guys,

I meant to write an update long before now, but I just haven't gotten around to it. Sorry.

I am now here with an update though, so how is NaNo going for me? The answer...not well.

Let me be clear, it's not going horribly or anything. I have a firm idea of what I'm writing (though a title still hasn't popped into my head). I like what I'm writing and I have a tonne of ideas of what's to come.

The problem is that I'm behind on my word count. I couldn't write for the first couple days of NaNo, and so I fell behind, but I did manage to catch up by around day four. Then I fell behind again, and so now I'm fighting to catch up.

I currently have 31,823 after a long writing session last night to try and catch up, however I should be at 35,000 by the end of today, so I'm going to have to write like crazy to reach that.

I'm really hoping that by the end of the week I'll have caught up, but how things are going I can't see me finishing this novel on time. I can just hope that I'll make to to the 50k mark.

I'm Back! Update and NaNoWriMo

Hi guys,

I wanted to write a quick update post to let you all know what's been going on. I've been away for the past week and I had no internet connection, so I wasn't able to update my website at all.
I'm back now though and there's a lot of content coming your way. In the next couple of days I'll be posting my October wrap up and November TBR.
I read 5 books while I was away, so I'll be posting reviews to all of those as well.

I'm also taking part in NaNoWriMo this month. I'm playing catch up at the moment, because since I was away I haven't managed to write anything until today. So I'll be catching up with that and I'll probably write updates on my progress each week.

For anyone who took part in my read-a-thon. I want to apologize. When I planned it I wasn't meant to be going away until a few days after it ended, however hospital appointment dates were changed, and I ended up having to leave early, so I was unable to run it properly. So I'd like to say sorry to anyone who took part. I'll make sure any future events are run a lot better.

Right, I'm off to write for NaNo, and get started on my book reviews and other posts.
